CNRS CNRS
The National Centre for Scientific Research has over 80 years experience of basic research, exploring living creatures, space, materials and human societies and can leverage all fields of science to understand current global challenges in all their complexity, in conjunction with organisations in the field.
Institut des Maladies Neurodégénératives (IMN) Institut des Maladies Neurodégénératives (IMN)
The Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 5293) associating the University of Bordeaux and the CNRS. It was created in January 2011 under the direction of Erwan BEZARD. Geographically dispersed for a long time, it regrouped at the Center Broca Nouvelle-Aquitaine in 2017. Its creation represented a major advance in the structuring of neuroscience research in Bordeaux and it is now one of the 6 building blocks of the Bordeaux Neurocampus, the Department of Neurosciences at the University of Bordeaux. It is now made up of 12 fundamental and preclinical research teams and a clinical research team backed by the Bordeaux University Hospital. IMN combines fundamental, preclinical and clinical research with the aim of: Develop new therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases by facilitating translational research from the laboratory to the patient bed. Increase its visibility and attractiveness in the field of translational neurosciences (Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonian syndromes, Alzheimer’s disease, obsessive-compulsive disorders, etc.) and fundamental (planning, cognition, motor control, molecular substrates of transmission synaptic) by relying on the potential of its teams and the dynamics put in place since its creation. Director of IMN: Thomas BORAUD Deputy directors: Eric BOUÉ-GRABOT & Wassilios MEISSNER
Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS)
The Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) is a research center that opened its doors on January 1st, 2011. Currently, IINS is home to about 160 scientists. IINS undergoes pluridisciplinary research by associating chemists, biologists, biophysicists and neurobiologists. They particularly study synaptic transmission, i.e. the communication between brain cells and the impact of this communication on neuronal networks and behavior. IINS scientists put a strong emphasis on developments of new investigation technologies combined with use of advanced tools. This allows the forefront research of subcellular nanoscopic protein organization, synapse dynamic and physiology of neuronal systems in normal or pathological behavioral situations.
Institut de Neurosciences Cognitives et Intégratives d’Aquitaine (INCIA) Institut de Neurosciences Cognitives et Intégratives d’Aquitaine (INCIA)
The Institut de Neurosciences Cognitives et Intégratives d’Aquitaine (INCIA) brings together researchers specialised in cognitive and integrative neurosciences. The research topics at INCIA range from cellular and circuit properties to behavior and cognition in a wide range of models, from invertebrate to human. This multi-level perspective requires approaches at the crossroads between neuroscience and other disciplines including molecular biology, biophysics and biomechanics, experimental psychology, neuroeconomy and engineering.
Systems Neurosciences and Psychiatry (SNaP lab / Herry Lab) Systems Neurosciences and Psychiatry (SNaP lab / Herry Lab)
Our lab exists for two reasons : curiosity and the will to contribute for society. We are eager to unravel the neuronal circuits and mechanisms that underpin complex behaviours and we push to translate our findings into therapeutic tools. Our ultimate mission is to develop diagnosis, care and treatments that can benefit people with psychological difficulties. Our research: - Defensive & Instrumental Behaviors: circuits & syntax: We explore experience-related changes in the cerebral circuits of defensive and instrumental functions. - Clinical & Translational: Biomarkers and Models: Our interests span from neuronal physiology in mice to human behavior and neuropsychiatric pathologies. - Tools Development for Basic & Clinical Neuroscience: We develop tools to interrogate and modulate neuronal circuits and syntax in animal models and human
Université de Bordeaux Université de Bordeaux
The University of Bordeaux, heir to a history of nearly six centuries, is a multidisciplinary university with deep regional roots that reach out to the European and international level. It is now striving to rise to the challenge of environmental and societal transitions and improve the well-being of its entire community.
Bordeaux Neurocampus Bordeaux Neurocampus
At the forefront of research into the brain and its pathologies, Bordeaux Neurocampus is one of the leading European centers for neuroscience research. Bordeaux Neurocampus covers research in neuroscience from the infinitely small to the patient and is formed of 6 institutes: Institut François Magendie (Neurocentre Magendie), Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN), the Interdisciplinary Institute of Neuroscience (IINS), Nutrineuro, Institut des neuroscience cognitive et integrative d'Aquitaine (INCIA) and Sanpsy (Sommeil, Addiction, Neuropsychiatrie) as well as the Bordeaux Imaging Center and various technical platforms.
